In addition, the company is involved in matters of policy, strategic planning, marketing, selecting and manning senior management positions, approving investments and budgets, and the overall ongoing monitoring of the group companies' performance. Based in Palma de Mallorca, AXA Aurora is owned by AXA, a French insurance company and the world's second largest insurance company. AXA also ranks 15th based on revenues as the largest company in the world on the 2006 Fortune Global 500 list. AXA Aurora's subsidiaries operate mainly in Spain and Portugal. These subsidiaries include Hilo Direct Seguros Y Reaseguros S.A., and Seguro Directo Gere- Companhia De Seguros SA, both which are active in the insurance sector.
