Passenger air transport
The company is a Spanish airline company that provides European passenger charter services. The company's main base is in Son Sant Joan Airport, Palma de Mallorca with hubs at Reina Sofía Airport, Tenerife, La Palma Airport, Arrecife Airport, Lanzarote and El Matorral Airport, Fuerteventura. The company operates seven Airbus A320-200 as of August 2006. The airline was established in April 1987, the founding shareholders being Spanish businessmen and the privately owned airline LTU from Germany. From 1993 until May 2001, LTU was the sole owner having bought out the other original shareholders. On May 2001 LTU sold the airline to a group of Spanish and Italian businessmen, including the Volare group. As a result the company was rebranded Volar Airlines. In 2005, the airline was renamed back to its present name. Its customer portfolio includes some of the important international tour operators such as TUI in Germany; Jet Air in Belgium; My Travel, Thomas Cook, First Choice, Universal Travel, Club Travel 2000 and Seguro Holidays in the United Kingdom; TUI Poland and Ecco Holiday in Poland; Falcon, Sunworld, Sunway and Slattery's in Irland; Universal in Switzerland; Voyages Fram in France; Alpitour, Veratour, Settemari and Condor in Italy; Apollo in Sweden; Flying Carpet in Israel; and Iberojet, Soltour and Kuoni in Spain.
